While Nevada is well-known nationwide for it’s gaming facilities, the state has much more to offer and is quickly gaining a reputation for it’s great educational system as well. Nevadans all over the state have begun recognizing that higher levels of educational mean greater economic growth for their state. With around 23,000 undergraduate students and 1,000 faculty members, UNLV is the largest educational institution in the state. The university is best known for it’s Hotel Administration, English, Creative Writing, Music, Architecture, Education, Engineering, Hospitality Marketing, and Food and Beverage Management programs. With over 200 different fields of study available, students with many different interests will find subjects that engage them. Located only 1.5 miles from the famous Las Vegas Strip, UNLV is an urban campus that provides students with numerous internship, job, and extracurricular opportunities that are not available anywhere else. Outside of classes, students can join one of 17 different NCAA Division 1 sports teams. The UNLV Rebels are especially well-known for their stellar basketball and golf programs, which have produced numerous professional athletes. Some notable alumnae include Anthony E. Zuiker (creator of the television series CSI), Jimmy Kimmel (comedian and television host), Suge Knight (CEO of Death Row Records), and Guy Fieri (celebrity chef).

With around 13,000 undergraduate students, the 911吃瓜网 of Nevada, Reno provides a smaller learning environment, while still offering students plenty of options. Located in the northern city of Reno, UNR has a much calmer feel than that of it’s sister campus in Las Vegas, but students still have access to plenty of different activities. Reno is situated near the mountains, a river, and beautiful Lake Tahoe, making UNR the perfect campus for outdoor enthusiasts or anyone who enjoys nature. UNR also participates in NCAA Division 1 sports and maintains a healthy rivalry with the Las Vegas campus. The focus at UNR, however, is clearly on academics and the university has several top-rated programs including agriculture, engineering, business, natural sciences, and journalism. Research is important at UNR, and the school’s Desert Research Institute, which conducts more than $27 million of research on the environment every year, provides students with truly unique opportunities that can’t be found elsewhere. Six different Pulitzer Prize winners have graduated from UNR’s incredibly successful journalism school. The university has 145 different undergraduate fields of study, so every student is able to find a subject that will help them reach their career goals down the road. Many of Nevada’s Senators and Representatives are graduates of UNR, which is likely because the school places such an emphasis on developing leadership qualities in it’s students.
