With a total enrollment of nearly 13,000 students, Montana State offers more than 120 academic programs for students to choose from. The reputation of the school has been known to exceed them, designated as one of only 96 research universities with “very high research activity” by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. Within a five-state region in the American West, which includes Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, North and South Dakota, MSU is the only university to receive such a high ranking in terms of their research prominence.
